A seminal nueva canción by a Brazilian singer-songwriter (Chico Buarque), recorded by a Uruguayan folk singer (Daniel Viglietti) in Cuba and released on that country's state-run record label (EGREM).

It was actually written in Portuguese and translated into Spanish later. If you haven't heard Buarque's original 1971 version, you're missing out. One of my all-time favorite tracks.

ReplyDeletei mean, i've heard Buarque sing it in Portuguese (as "Construcao") in a live performance, but i thought that the Spanish version was the original!
